CHEMCLAD repairs this scrubber for peanuts

This ROTO-CLONE scrubber on a peanut roaster for a major candy manufacturer had been suffering from progressive corrosion – on both the inside and the outside of the unit during its several years in service.

It was determined that the best way to carry out the project was to remove the entire unit from its roof-top mounting and lower it to ground level for transport to an off-site facility for disassembly, repair and coating. Once there, the entire unit was dismantled and, after extensive cleaning operations, all components to be coated were thoroughly grit blasted.

Upon completion of the preparation phase, a number of areas were found to be corroded completely through the casing. These severely damaged areas were quickly and easily repaired with METALCLAD SpeedAlloy prior to the application of the CHEMCLAD SC.

Two coats of the CHEMCLAD SC were applied to all internal and external surfaces to restore the equipment and prevent further corrosion. The entire project, including dynamic balancing of the rotating components and re installation on the roof, was completed in about one week – well within the schedule allotted for the project.

Needless to say, the plant engineers were delighted with the results and the trouble-free, on schedule return of the equipment to service. In addition, the facility was able to successfully restore the unit and extend its service life for less than 20% of the cost of a new machine.
