International Medical Products Manufacturer Repairs Critical HVAC Component with CHEMCLAD XC & SpeedAlloy

The maintenance engineers at this large medical products manufacturer in Delaware discovered that they had a problem with the elbow of this vacuum chiller that is used to produce ice to supplement the cooling process at one of their facilities.

They contacted Jack Sheets, ENECON’s Regional Sales Director, and he recommended a repair procedure that could be accomplished quickly and cost effectively using the facilities’ own maintenance staff.

The rubber insulation of the elbow was stripped away. The surface was manually prepared by rotary filing, grinding and sanding. The entire area was then thoroughly cleaned with Alcohol.

SpeedAlloy was applied to fill and seal any small pinholes in the elbow which were causing the vacuum leaks. Finally, two coats of CHEMCLAD XC were applied over the entire elbow to provide long-term corrosion protection to this critical HVAC component. It was then re-insulated.

The entire project took the maintenance crew only two days to complete – with Jack’s on-site supervision. They used less than $1,000 of ENECON materials.

The maintenance manager estimates that they saved many thousands of dollars over a conventional repair or replacement procedure which would have necessitated taking the unit off line for at least 2 weeks.
